Being a big man (60" waist) folding chairs were something I never even considered until I stumbled across the Alps Mountaineering King Kong chair. Didn't really believe the claims it made, but decided to take a chance and buy one any way. Now I'm purchasing my second and maybe third because past history has pretty much proved that if something is really good and useful for a big man - they will stop making it. And this chair is really good.Rock steady, sturdy and easy to use. An earlier reviewer mentioned it was not easy to get out of, but I found that not to be so. I put both hands on the rear legs and shift my weight front and then put my hands on top of the front legs and easily lift myself out of the chair. The only change I would suggest is that the carry bag be a little bigger. The chair has a lot of canvas to put into the bag. It does fit, but can be a bit of a chore sometimes trying to get it all in the bag. A small complaint and to be honest, hardly worth mentioning. I would buy this chair even if it did not come with a bag - it is that good.

I am a big guy 6'3" 300 LBS and I really like the chair. One of the things that I did not know about the chair until I bought it was that there are straps that are adjustable for the arms at the back of the chair. One of my grips is when the arms slowly creep down as you are sitting in the chair. The straps prevent this and help when getting out of the chair. The pleating is a little warm on a hot summer day but I think I will appreciate it on a cool fall day when watching one of kids games. I would recomend.

King Kong has replaced a chair originally purchased more than 10 years ago from Cabelas that was rated for 400# & had seen many whitewater rafting trips. As those days are over for me it was time to replace the 'old girl.' After taking delivery of King Kong I immediately set it up & to my surprise it was actually comfy. It sits higher than most & the product just feels like it will last a lifetime. It has supplemental padding in all the right places & I really appreciate the easily adjustable arm rest straps. Because of its extremely sturdy construction it is much heavier to transport but the carrying bag has 2 straps on it similar to a backpack that you can carry it handsfree. The heavy tubular construction & beefed-up foot pads give me the confidence that King Kong will live on much longer than the 'old girl' from Cabelas. Truely a best buy in my opinion.
