Garage in a box is great!

Was able to build garage by myself in 8hrs or so (with a 6ft folding ladder). If you read the directions carefully until you understand exactly what you have to do before you start, you will find it very easy to build. It is very well engineered and very sturdy. Just take your time when building it, and make sure you face bolts away from the outer covering (as the directions don't say to). It has already been through a nasty rain storm with 45mph winds and it didn't budge. Should work just as well in snow as long as you keep the covering tight (which is very easy to do using the included ratcheting tie downs), and clear excessive amounts of snow from the roof. Can't beat it for the money!!!

a great deal on a much improved product!

as the first review states, this is an excellent shelter for the money. i'd say the only reason i'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the material. if it's anything like the last Shelter Logic shelter i owned (which this is replacing), the cover material is good for a little over a year (and just past the warranty period). basically, the weather and sun cause the material to become brittle and easily tear with wind.that said, this "Shelter-In-In-A-Box" is much improved over the earlier models. it's very sturdy and the large one-piece main cover simply looks better. the ratchets keep the main cover and front and back door panels very taut. this makes the whole shelter more effective and keeps out weather.the construction time is very quick once you catch on and the instructions are very easy to understand. think of it as an erector set and enjoy it!also, as the first review states, make sure to face the bolts inward so they don't tear into the cover fabric. it seemed logical to me even though they don't mention that in the instructions.overall, a great buy....ESPECIALLY WITH AMAZON PRIME! a very good deal on a great shelter!

It's Just OK for the Price

I had purchased one of these 12X20X8 ShelterLogic tents and only had it for 2 years. In my experience it 's not a bad product but if you get any heavy snow DO NOT BUY this unit. Last summer we were expected to get a mild hurricane so I took down the canopy because it's definitely not built for high winds. When I put it back up it started to rip across the top seam. Not a big deal but they eventually spread. Then we had a terrible winter with lots of snow and by the 2nd storm it completely folded in and was totally destroyed. It's not as heavy weight as the pictures show.Replaced it with a different brand with much thicker canvas and galvanized poles.Bottom Line:if you live in an area where heavy snow or heavy wind is not a factor, it's worth the money.

Great 2-Person Tent for Extreme Conditions!

I have taken my Eureka Apex 2XT on numerous car camping trips last year, and it worked great even in the pouring rain in the Cascade Mountains of Washington (and it rains here no doubt). The tent rainfly has a nice PU (Polyurethane) coating on the underside, and a factory DWR (Durable Water Repellant) treatment on the outside surface that beads water very well. The full vestibules on both sides is a must-have feature of this tent--great for storing gear, boots, and even cooking while under protective cover (unzip rainfly a bit before starting a stove). The two large entrance doors on both sides make entry and exit from the tent easy. I also like how this tent breathes very well--very, very little condensation (none if those doors are unzipped and rolled down). I also purchased the optional gear loft, and I found this addition worth the cost. I like how I can toss my wallet, keys, flashlight, and other gear into the tent loft.The only downsides here are the two side tent doors do not have mesh bug-screens. However I found that with the vestibules fully zipped, those little critters have a tough time finding a way inside. If they do, I just zip the tent doors shut. For backpacking, the weight is a bit on the heavy side. However if you are going on a trek with an adult partner, given them a tent pole and the rainfly, and a ground cloth. Meanwhile,you keep a tent pole, the tent itself, and the stakes--that is just over 2 pounds (nice for the ultralight packer). The tent floor fabric is a light ripstop. Make sure you get a ground cloth. I would not recommend the Eureka ground tarps--too heavy and cheap plastic. I would recommend a cloth emergency all-weather space blanket--it will reflect back heat in colder weather, and its much lighter for about the same price if not less.Otherwise, I do not think you will find a better tent for the money. I would even go so far as to say this tent is near expedition quality and craftsmanship. In short, you won't be dissappointed.

Great little tent

I've taken this tent out three times so far. Once "car camping" and two backpacking trips. Two of those trips we had very heavy rains. Both times the tent stayed completely dry. I was very impressed. This is also one of the only two person tents that I've camped with that is actually comfortable for two people. The dual vestibules give plenty of gear room. Set up is simple even for one person. It's a little on the heavy side for backpacking - if that will be your main use I suggest looking at the Pinnacle Pass which is the same tent but with aluminum poles that make it about a pound lighter.

Well designed product

I used this tent while doing field research for 3 1/2 weeks straight. With set up and take down occuring every 3-4 days. It worked great and was sized perfectly for holding myself and my gear. Easy set up/take down and lightweight. The design was great for wind and rain resistance. During a storm with 45mph gusts my Eureka Apex 2XT stood its ground with no problem while my colleagues watched their tents bend and collapse. The only difficulty I had was reaching the zipper on the fly, when wanting to open the fly from the inside of the tent. The zipper on the fly is closed when the zipper pull is at the furthest point away. Nonetheless, that was a small aggravation considering the overall quality for the money. Great product.

This review is for the Earth Military Jamboree Military Style Aluminum Cot. Being in the Army for five years, I've had many experience sleeping on cots and I like to think I know what a good cot is when I sleep on one. This review will be very simple and to the point. I've had this cot for about a week and I've slept good on it. I use this as my bed at the moment because I have just moved. So far, there have been no problems to report and I would recommend this item to anyone searching for a cot. It's very durable and seem like it will hold a decent amoount of weight, but I am only 170. When you get up and lay down, there is no squeaking of any kind. So you don't have to worry about waking people up. It's very easy to set up. I would recommend installing the the pole on the side that has no velcro first. Then adjust the velcro on the opposite side to your liking (may require readjusting) and place the pole through the material. Does this seem confusing? I promise it's not. Once you have it in front of you, it will be easier to understand. I was able to get this out of the box and have it ready for me to sleep on in about 3 minutes. I agree with the positive reviews that other customers have said about this product.

We got it as spare since we didn't want air mattresses. This is a very sturdy and thoughtful design. I tried it myself (6'4 220lbs) and was quite happy with the experience. I would assume, though, that 6'4" is the upper limit. The only thing that I found strange is that it did not seem to have a manual. It's not too hard to figure out but it would have been nice. Other than that, the size and weight, the sturdiness of the frame and the cloth, the accessories and the storage bag are very very nice. I highly recommend it!

Decent for the price

Pros:-Not much-It's cheap and has a mosquito net attached.-Zippers, seams and stress points are relativley sturdy (though I've only used it twice so far)-Less bulky than carrying a sleeping pad and tentCons:-There are no directions on how to set this hammock up. Normally it would seem like a no brainer as most hammocks come out of the box with the suspension ropes intertwined/braided into the actual hammock but this hammock doesn't. You get the hammock (the canvas,net,nylon) and seperatley the rope and metal rings.-You need an additional 30 feet of rope to suspend the mosquito net and nylon roofing-No way is this rain worthy as is, you need to get an additional tarp plus ANOTHER 20+ feet of rope-Heavy, especially with all the additonal rope and tarping.-Pretty narrow on the inside, especially with the net zipped up and inside a sleeping bag

What you need with this

While they don't give you much of anything to help setup its a decent hammock. I've used this hammock on 50 or more campouts. First off I used a piece of plastic pipe with Stainless steel pipe clamps to keep the hammock at full width. Also I grabbed ratchet straps or tie down straps to make it easier to hook up to trees. use the rope for tieing up friends.... The tent section: I used 2 long bungee cords to hold the "tent" section up. I also put used a pipe on each end to hold the tent at full width. Doing these things makes life a lot easier and its easy to setup and take down. The plactic pipe used does make it more bulky to pack. But it does well in thunderstorms. Make sure you water proof the top where its sewed to the misquito netting. Water will wick from the top all the way to the bottom if not properly sealed.The pros, It is easy to catch a breeze with this hammock and its great at keeping the bugs off. I put my gear right below the hammock which is good enough to keep the weather off of it. If you set this up right, it sleeps like a Caddilac. The misquito netting is strong enough to hold you if you roll over in the middle of the night.....Cons, you will need to do some pre use setup. I also replaced the steel rings with heavy duty Carribeaners which allows it to hold more weight.

I bought this "hammock" for local hiking trips and maybe an overnighter. Like the other person stated, it is a pain in the neck to set up. Yes you will need extra line to set it up and it is not wide enough. This thing is better suited to be set up as a ground based mosquito proof shelter. Why would you do that? If that's the case then just buy a net and save on time, money and the added extra weight of this junk. I do not reccomend this cheap alternative to buying something better like a hennessy or other quality name brand hammock.

Shelter from the Storm

I am an avid backpacker and typically use much smaller tents. However, I recently used a Titan for 5 days at a music festival. While the first three days were sunny and warm, the 4th and 5th days brought rain and micro-burst wind conditions with gusts over 60 mph. Winds coming straight down that caused the tent to pump up and down like a bellows. The word 'scary' comes immediately to mind but the tent and all contents came through dry and without damage. The corner guy-out points are the key!!! Use nylon cord and take advantage of these above-ground points to anchor and stabilize this tent and you cannot go wrong. All around us, awnings were being ripped off of very expensive RV's and lesser quality tents turned into big kites. Thanks Eureka! for making a very tough and dry tent!

Beautiful, large yet lightweight tent

First, I am a fan of Eureka tents. They put out a quality product. The Titan tent is no exception. It's large, 13X9 and can be split into 2 separate rooms by zipping in a piece of fabric. The entire package is very lightweight including the poles. Additionally the tent, poles and stakes all come in their own nylon bags. There are 2 separate doors, one at each end of the tent, so if you do create 2 rooms, each area has it's own entrance. The windows are large with full zippers so you can control the air flow simply by adjusting the zipper. The floor is black and runs up the sides of the tent which comes in handy if you are caught in a downpour and the mud starts flying. The poles are made of aluminum which I prefer over fiberglass. With the shock cord inside the pole there now way of assembling the poles incorrectly. As for pitching the tent, this was my greatest concern as I have read where some had trouble putting it up saying the directions were impossible to understand. I think they just had a bad day. I put the tent up by myself in about 20 minutes. This was a crucial point as I am always the first one at the campsite and always setup before anyone arrives. The key is the spider hub on the top center of the tent. It even comes wrapped in it's own little nylon bag. There are 4 arms coming out of the hub, one for each corner of the tent, 2 are color coded yellow on the end of the arm and they are the ones which sit right above the tan colored fabric. Just make sure they line up and nothing is twisted and you got it made. Insert one pole on a yellow arm, run down that corner of the tent and insert the pin into the bottom of the pole. Put the opposite pole in, run down that corner of the tent, insert pin and lay the 2 poles on the ground. Insert the 3rd pole and let it support itself or if there is a 2nd person, have them steady the 3rd pole as you put in the 4th and final pole, lift it up, insert pin and the rest is easy. The final pole takes a little strength as the tension on the tent is becoming taunt, but it's not too bad. Attach the hooks and loops,(do this after all 4 poles are attached, I found doing it prior to all 4 are in creates too much tension on the tent and the last pole doesn't want to go in) stake out the tent and your "home" is good to go. The fly adds protection if the weather is looking bad and takes another 15 minutes to put on. The added rings inside the tent are a nice addition for hanging clothes, a flashlight, etc. They are located in the corners and one at the center of the roof. This is a great tent and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for size, quality and a product that is very lightweight and easy to handle. Hope this helps. Happy and safe camping to all.

I was at a campground with a family that had this tent. Love it. It's huge...and they raved about it in terms of set-up and stability.It was also noted in Consumer Reports and was ranked "Excellent" in set up, rain resistance, and construction test criteria for Large Sized Family Camping Tent Comparison. It was also a quick pick of Consumer Reports for this category.

It's roomy and has kept us dry.

My wife and I have four tents. For ultralight backpacking, we use the REI Half Dome, for a quick one or two night camp or early season iffy weather, we use the Sierra Designs Alpha 3. For multi-day car camping our standard tent is the Sunrise 11, and for really big campsites that don't have a lot of shade, we use the Copper Canyon 1512. I could fit 5 REI Half Dome tents in that Copper Canyon 1512...it's crazy big. Although that Copper Canyon 1512 is lux, unless you have a wide open meadow, it is really too big for most camp sites. Eureka also makes a Sunrise 8 and 9, but I think the Sunrise 11 is just about the perfect size for car camping in maximum comfort in most established campgrounds. We've had the Sunrise 11 for many years and have spent over 40 nights in it. Overall, I really like the Sunrise 11. Sleeps 6? Maybe, but I prefer just my wife and I in a queen size air bed with plenty of room to move around and for our stuff. We can easily stand up in it. I don't like the room divider, but we just keep that rolled up. A few years ago we camped for 4 days near Taylor Reservoir, Colorado. It rained heavily non-stop, but at least there was no wind. The only water inside the tent was at one of the internal mesh storage pockets sewn into the tent wall. I thought I had seam sealed the tent pretty well, but must have missed this one spot. Luckily, my oversight only resulted in about a 3 tablespoon puddle each day. YOU MUST SEAM SEAL ALL TENTS, use a ground tarp and replace the cheap tent pegs while you're at it. Also, store it in a cool dry place, not out in the garage where it gets hot. This isn't a four season tent, but I've been surprised at how well it has held up to some mean weather. My wife has so far stayed warm and dry, and that's what allows me to stay out there longer. The Sunrise 11 is well ventilated even with the rainfly on. I'll choose less warm and airy over hefty-bag like condensation and suffocation any day. I think the primary selling point for me were the dimensions of this tent. Most developed campgrounds will have a 12 x 12 ft tent pad. I bought the Sunrise 11 because it will fit our big air bed and gear inside and still maximize the setup on a typical campground tent pad. Tent pads are square so I like square floor tents instead of hex. Setup is significantly easier with two people, but can be accomplished solo with minor swearing. Getting the rainfly on solo takes a little more ingenuity. Lay it out upwind, stake it down to keep it from flying away, insert poles, attach a rope and standing on the opposite side of the tent, pull it over. I'm not thrilled by pole sleeves because they hang up on the pole ferrules, but these aren't full sleeves, only at the very top. You clip the rest of it. Overall, I think this is a well made, stable, large, rain shedding tent that has served me well. UPDATE June 2009: We camped in high winds for 3 days at the Oasis near Great Sand Dunes National Park. I tied everything down and we had no problems. The tent is still going strong, but it barely fit between the trees. You never really know if a big tent will fit, but so far I've been able to squeeze this Sunrise 11 in. Its been really close a few times. (If I'm unsure, that Alpha 3 is light enough to bring as a backup). If you go a little smaller in size, like a 9x9, then it will easily fit any place I've ever car camped. For a 9x9, I would go with the Eureka Grand Manan 9 over the Sunrise 9. I like the part vertical walls, the rainfly offers more coverage and it is a more subtle color. (nothing against blue.) I'll give that one a try when my Sunrise 11 dies. This is why I have so many tents. UPDATE July 2009: We camped for 3 days at Lone Rock (#7) near Deckers, CO. I wanted to set up the Copper Canyon 1512, but it wouldn't fit. I also brought the Sunrise and Alpha because there was room in the truck. I probably should have gone with the Alpha, but chose the Sunrise. We had heavy rain, high winds, and even a little hail. The railroad tie and gravel tent pad only served to keep the rain from draining off. At one point we had about 2 inches of water under this tent. The floor felt like a water bed, but only about a 1/4 cup of water blew through a pin hole in one corner. No big deal. Impressive considering the amount of rain and water under the tent. This Sunrise has been great. UPDATE Sept 2012: My Sunrise 11 is still going strong even though I almost killed it. Summer 2011, really high winds tore out a corner pin/strap and one of the top pole sleeves ripped. It was my fault for not setting the guy lines. I sent it to Eureka and they returned it to me repaired as good as new... no charge! Eureka rocks! We used it 5 more days this past summer. The floor is still in great shape, but we're careful to protect it. It looks like it will be some time before I get that Grand Manan 9. We also spent labor day weekend in the Copper Canyon 1512. It was difficult to set up in the breeze, but friends were jealous of our Bedouin-esque palace. These BFTs are super comfortable, but the wind will rip them up if you aren't careful. Be sure to always set out all the guy lines.

good shelter

I've had this tent for over 10 years and it has seen plenty of camping. It is well ventilated with good seams. We've slept is it during hellacious rain storms with high winds, lightning and buckets of rain and it is has performed admirably. Be sure to seal the seams every year as you would any tent. We usually camp in the woods so it hasn't had much uv exposure, but we still use this... I'd buy another... At 7 foot center, you can stand and stretch in it. Our family is only three, me, my wife, our son and our flat coat retriever... plenty of room to play cards etc in rain storms...****** 2010 addendum: Well, we bought this same model again. My son and his friends have taken over our old sunrise, it still holds up.. you have to follow careful habits, like using a good ground cloth and sealing the seams (as already mentioned) My wife and I are able to have the luxury of full sized cots with excellent foam mattresses.. Great Tent.Highly recommended.

Good 3-season tent

The tent is very spacious and airy. That may be the reason it can be colder than some of the tents which are smaller and not as well ventilated. A word of caution - make sure it is well staked down or the shape makes it take off like a sail. We went camping in Yellowstone this summer and the wind blew it around as we were putting it up. Also, the size can make it harder to find a good camping site.
